@DNAblues Obviously AA can be beat, but usually if somebody calls you all in they either have a different pocket or they have AK AQ so you have one of their outs so AA IS the best pre flop hand. The noyl thing that beats it, is pure luck.
It’s 50-50, you either win or you don’t.
So would I but I would not necessary take that hand all the way to the river. It all depends on what the community cards are and my read on my opponents.
Watching the final 2 tables at the latest WSOP provide ample evidence that AA is not a guaranteed win.
It is all about probability, which means “in the long run” a certain hand, such as AA, will win more often than any other hole cards.
I just wanted to make it clear the AA is not a guaranteed winner. And newbies fall for this all the time.

of course it is an excellent chance to double up. My point was that, esp. newbies, tend to overvalue AA especially when in a multi-handed game or in lower limit games where players don’t want to lay down their AA while ignoring what is on the board.

You are dead on. He is an excellent player who cannot accept that poker is still a game with uncertainty and chance.
Chance does not mean random but it does mean that even AA in the hole will still lose 67% of the time to a full 9 person table.
Phil’s immaturity doesn’t seem to grasp that even poor plays and players will win some hands and will often knock him out just for bragging rights.

As for the 11 rings, they were all about 10 years ago.
He does provide some useful advice in this video, but not a whole lot.
Phil Hellmuth is in fact one of the best poker players around. Perhaps not a good “cash game player” but he sure is one hell of a tournament player, having set a record of 11 WSOP braclet wins. His ego indeed is enormous and he can be a bad loser but he isn’t a bad player.
