The tournament was split into two series, with each player’s finishing position in the series final determining their starting chip count in the grand finale. Similarly, the finishing position in two preliminary rounds per series determined the starting chip positions of each player in both series finals. The Grand Final winner received 00000. The payouts for the other entrants from the 00000 prize pool were unclear in the broadcast. However, Phil Ivey has said, on Full Tilt, that he walked away with about 0000, and, therefore, broke even. In the first two rounds of each series, players start with 100000 in chips. Their finish in each of these rounds determines their starting chips for the final round of the series as follows: Finish 1. 250000 2. 150000 3. 112000 4. 88000 5. 72000 6. 56000 7. 40000 8. 32000 Series 1 Round 1 finish + Series 1 Round 2 finish = Starting chips for Series 1 Final Series 2 uses the same format. Finishes in each series final are then used to determine the Grand Finale starting chip count as follows: Finish – Finals 1. 500000 2. 300000 3. 224000 4. 176000 5. 144000 6. 112000 7. 80000 8. 64000 Series 1 Final finish + Series 2 Final finish = Starting chips for grand finale. It was held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and ran from May 28 to July 17. There were be 57 bracelet events, culminating in the 000 No Limit Hold’em Championship that began on July 5. The November Nine concept returned for the third year, with the Main Event finalists returning on November 6. A notable change from 2009 was the revamping of the 000 buy-in tournament. From its inception in 2006 through 2009, it had been a HORSE event in which play rotated between Texas hold ‘em, Omaha 8-or-better, Razz, stud, and stud 8-or-better, all played with a limit betting structure. In 2010, it became an “8-game” tournament, rotating between the five HORSE games followed by rounds of no-limit hold ‘em, pot-limit Omaha (high only), and limit 2–7 triple draw. Once the final table was reached, play switched exclusively to no-limit hold ‘em (as was the case in the 2006 HORSE event). The tournament, now known as The Poker Player’s Championship,[1] has been moved to the second spot on the WSOP schedule, preceded only by the restricted Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em event.
